Dog Days

So this week was a “good one” for Maine, we just got nailed again with another storm in Portland, about 14 inches of snow within a 36-hour timeframe… That sort of poor weather onslaught can take a beating on you, physically (time to shovel), mentally (it’s still snowing!?!), and emotionally (man, it is still snowing!)…

Today, the skies cleared in the afternoon and the sun came out. I walked down to The Thirsty Pig, in the Old Port.  It’s a nice stroll down there. The Pig is a veritable beer institution in this town. There, I met with some old friends, some folks from Bissell Brothers, the people from Foundation Brewing, some members of the beer community in Portland, and then Baxter from The Highroller Lobster Co., the new(ish) spot just up on Exchange. These were and are great people to spend an evening with, to make the best of the weather and all…

And then we all met Baxter’s dog, Winifred (she’s got her own Instagram account too, @winniethekeeshound). We quickly forgot about the weather, politics, the trivialities of the day. And we all wanted to be fast friends with Winnie.
